What’s New?
For 2016, the Chevrolet Tahoe has a new standard improved OnStar with 4G LTE WiFi hotspot capacity, an eight-inch color touchscreen interface, an advanced Chevrolet MyLink system currently with Apple CarPlay capacity, and modern safety features including the forward collision warning and lane departure intervention. A head-up display with a reconfigurable instrument cluster and digital readouts are also available.
Exterior Features
Appearance-wise, the lower-echelon 2016 Tahoe trims sport, besides one of the two new exterior hues, a rear spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels, step running boards, a Class II tow hitch and wiring, a roof rack, and the heated power-adjustable mirrors.
Meantime, the LTZ doubtless remain providing reverse-tilt power mirrors and20-inch alloy wheels, while both the LTZ and the LT are returned with a standard Power-opening liftgate.
Interior Features
The 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe now comes standard with a six-speaker audio system, tri-zone automatic climate control, five USB ports, Bluetooth, HD Radio, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, a Wi-Fi hot spot and an eight-inch touch-screen infotainment system with the Apple CarPlay.
Optional features include a push-button start, power sunroof, navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, a ten-speaker Bose surround-sound system, a wireless mobile device charging pad, adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, forward collision warning, rear cross traffic alert, active lane-keep assist, front parking sensors and the blind spot monitoring.
Technology
Also standard are audio connectivity and Bluetooth phone, the Chevrolet MyLink interface (that includes an eight-inch touchscreen, smartphone app integration, voice control, text-to-voice capability for MAP-enabled smartphones, Apple CarPlay and Siri Eyes Free capability for fresher iPhones), a 110-volt household-style power outlet, an improved OnStar package with the 4G LTE connection which offers WiFi hotspot connectivity, a rearview camera, and the six-speaker sound system with satellite and HD radios, an auxiliary audio jack, a CD player, 5 USB ports (2 with the front bench seat), an SD card slot and a media player interface.
Engine/ Fuel Efficiency
A 355-HP 5.3-liter V8 engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission currently come standard in the 2016 Tahoe. The EPA estimates the Tahoe can earn up to 16/23 MPG city/highway that’s average for the class. The fuel economy of Tahoe is advanced by a system known as Active Fuel Management, which deactivates 4 of the Tahoe’s 8 cylinders when they are not required. According to Chevrolet, the Tahoe can tow nearly 8,600 pounds.
Safety
The 2016 Chevy Tahoe’s Standard safety equipment includes traction control, antilock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags, stability control (with trailer-sway control), and whole-length side curtain airbags. An airbag situated between the front bucket seats (when fitted so) is also standard and assists in side-impact crashes.
Also, the standard is OnStar that includes on-demand roadside assistance, automatic crash notification, remote door unlocking, turn-by-turn navigation and stolen vehicle assistance. A rearview camera and the rear parking sensors are standard on each Tahoe.
Based on the trim level, forward collision alert, front parking sensors, a vibrating safety-alert seat, lane-departure intervention, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are either standard or optional.
